I thought they were good together. And I could see why they might like each other. Then I thought to myself what is the worst example I have seen. I think Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise in Knight and Day. I have noticed it has become cliche for them to lay groundwork and relationship development by one or both characters divulging either some personal tidbit from their past or some hope or dream they have. When this can occur naturally in the course of the film and is well acted you may not even really notice it happening. In Knight and Day it was ridiculously forced. It was so obvious that this was their supposed bonding time. But seriously who sees someone on a plane and immediately starts yacking about all their personal business to a total stranger? And it just got worse from there. I have never waNted to groan and facepalm so much in my life.Hmmm this is possibly a topic that deserves its own entry.....lolhumandisasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12874862852222507726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080669024810102815.post-82066920733404604242012-07-25T04:58:39.578-07:002012-07-25T04:58:39.578-07:00I remember you saying that about Prince of Persia ...I remember you saying that about Prince of Persia and after seeing it I ended up agreeing. It was a cool movie, slightly unique, and with pretty people in it,but the romance was a bit flat...

I was thinking back over this and whether there are any movies of this genre who have managed to do this right. James Bond is notorious for his flings as well as his action but I am reluctant to label those romance. One of the first that lept to mind was The Mummy. It was an action adventure movie although a bit earlier into the CGI and I don't remember felhumandisasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12874862852222507726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080669024810102815.post-63982372279641499572012-07-24T14:39:59.524-07:002012-07-24T14:39:59.524-07:00Thanks for your review. The shallow romance seems to be a staple of these kind of action-adventure movies. I felt the same way about Prince of Persia. I guess it's hard to develop a meaningful relationship between two characters in just ~2 hours when you also have to devote a good part of that time to the plot and the action.Catalysthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03215301903349738618noreply@blogger.com
